SUBJECT: SURVEYOR VACANCY
The Company is seeking to fill the following vacancy in the Operations Department, Cape Town based. All interested candidates who qualify are invited to apply:

Duties Responsibilities
- The surveying of bulk product shipments including the carrying out and/or delegation of the following duties: gauging, sampling of shore tanks and of vessel's tanks.
- Calculation of quantities related to bulk surveys.
- Witnessing of gauging and calculations, as a third party, where required.
- Inspection of shore and vessel’s tanks and associated pipework, including sealing of valves.
- Ensure losses through quantity and/or quality deterioration are eliminated.
- Supervise the loading and discharge of bulk shipments with the aim of eliminating/limiting delays. · Liaise with storage companies regarding the handling of products before, during and after transfers, loadings, and discharges.
- Liaise with vessel’s personnel and ship’s agents with regard to the handling and carriage of products.
- Accurate keeping of records pertaining to the above.
- Co-ordinate work carried out by any Laboratory Technician or sampler who may be assisting the Surveyor.
- Issue verbal and written instructions and letters of protest, where applicable, to other parties involved with carriage, loading, storage and/or discharge of bulk products.
- Assist the Office Secretaries with the compilation and checking of reports, invoices and typed documents.
- Assist the Area Manager and Operations Supervisor with their day-to-day duties, when required.
- Ensure good housekeeping of the sample store room/office at all times.
- Ensure that all field equipment is well maintained and is in presentable working condition.
- Monitor and maintain statistics relating to Shipments.
- Extract information for preparation of Stats. & invoicing.
- Assist the Harbour Operations department as and when required.
- Assist with inspections as and when required.
- Inspection of non-liquid products / goods / commodities shipments.
- Inspection of road tankers / railcars and shore tanks when required.
- Compilation of ‘special’ reports and/or faxes (eg. Damage Inspection Report).
- Perform other special functions within the incumbents ability which may be delegated from the Area Manager and Operations Supervisor on an individual basis.
- Carry out any sampling as the situation warrants it.
- Carry out any other functions, where possible, to ensure the maximum effectiveness of the Branch and Region and that the Company’s Quality Assurance system is maintained.
- Available for call-out/standby duties whenever required.
- Ensure the safety of oneself, others and the surroundings by following procedures stipulated in the Safety Policy and Procedures Manual.
- Ensure that all Compliance, Quality Assurance, Health, Safety and Environmental work practices within this job function are constructed and conducted safely and ensure that all hazards are identified and controlled.
Personalrequirements necessary:
- Required to work after hours (overtime) when necessary and be able to travel out of town as and when required.
- Be able to work both independently and team.
- Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written in English.
- Ability to check information for correctness / accuracy after capturing.
- Own reliable roadworthy transportation.
- Show discretion when dealing with confidential information.
- Be always professional and ethical.
- Ability to lead and control subordinates.
- Fit in with the Company culture.

- Show initiative.
- Travel within SA and Outside as and when required during and after hours.
Required Minimum Experience/ Qualification & Knowledge
- Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics 60% and Physical Science 50%
- HUET (Helicopter Under Water Escape Training) preferable but not essential
- IFIA (International Federation of Inspection Agencies) Certified (preferable)
- Minimum of 3 years hands on experience in the below terminals/installation/plant directly related industry, as per the following.
- Crude Oil, Petroleum, Chemical, Agricultural, and related activities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various products related to the above from a quality and quantity.
- Be computer literate in basic software package e.g., Excel and Word
- Code B Driver’s license and minimum 3 years driving experience with no restrictions.
