HealthCare NZ is a leading provider of in-home and community-based health, rehabilitation, nursing, mental health, and disability support. Our aim is to support people to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible and to maintain their independence regardless of age, injury, illness, or disability.
Are you looking to make a real difference in your community? We are currently looking for empathetic and passionate Support Workers to work with our 10-year-old medically fragile client based in Orewa.

Shifts:
- Tuesdays 11am or 12pm start until 5.30 or 6pm
- A few hours on a Wednesday to make up a total of 8 hours per week.
- Opportunity to increase hours.
- Opportunity to work extra days on an ad-hoc basis.
What does a Support Worker do?
Due to the intimate nature of the cares, we are looking for someone who has worked in a hospital environment and with children in the past. Due to the complexity of the cares, commitment to the shifts is vital. Responsibilities can be varied, and you will follow a care plan, which may include some or all of the below:
- Suctioning & tracheostomy tube change
- Moving and Handling (Hoist)
- Personal care
- Ventilator (Astral Ventilator)
- The role goes where the client goes - to school, home, and out and about in the community.
- Able to assist a Registered Nurse
What's in it for you?
We are committed to our employees and are proud to employ and train the best people in all areas of our organisation. We provide a career pathway for staff through the learning and development framework to achieve NZQA qualifications, which are fully funded. You will earn between $22.70 - $28.25 per hour, depending on experience and qualification.
This is an opportunity to join New Zealand's largest community healthcare provider with the potential to gain experience in a variety of disciplines including aged care, disability, mental health and rehabilitation. Whilst you will be part of a large national organisation, you will join a dedicated and close-knit team. We also provide free EAP service, company mobile phone and travel reimbursement between your clients.
What are we looking for?
- Attitude - a desire to help and support others, achieving excellence in all you do!
- Previous healthcare or care-giving experience is desirable, although not essential
- Excellent communication skills
- Healthcare qualifications are advantageous.
- Most positions require a full NZ drivers' licence and your own reliable transport.
At HealthCare New Zealand, we are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity and reflects the communities we serve. If you are passionate about what you do and are interested in exploring a rewarding career with us, then we would love to hear from you!
