Heritage Field Supervisor
Reporting to the Heritage Field Superintendent this position is responsible for working closely with Native Title Partners and external consultants, to coordinate and safe deliver heritage field activities across various Fortescue operations and project areas.
The field supervisor requires great leadership and management for a team of officers that will undertake field work ensuring a safe and positive culture.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Ensuring the heritage field team conducts field work safely and in line with approval timeframes
- Completes Field interactions and scenario based safety activities
- Compliance with regulatory regime, land access agreements and internal processes
- Deliver timely and cost-effective access to land through the successful management of heritage field logistics
- Create a safe working environment
- Ensure step improvements in the safety and culture through strong field leadership
- Engender a positive team and workplace culture
- Propose and pursue efficiency improvements in the heritage field and logistics portfolio
- Maintain professional, accurate and consistent communication between the Perth and field approval teams
- Actively pursue opportunities to understand survey constraints in the early planning stages, including the undertaking of reconnaissance investigations, so as to provide strategic advice to the heritage approvals team
- Planning and arranging logistics for remote heritage surveys, meetings and on-ground consultation, with traditional custodians and external consultants
- Managing heritage assets including vehicles and laydown areas
- Delivery of high-level heritage advice to Fortescue management, project directors, contractors, and other key stakeholders
- Strengthening relationships with Native Title Groups through close and transparent working relationships
- Encourage and support the development of skills and knowledge amongst the heritage field team
Qualifications and skills required:
- Current C Class Driver's Licence
- 4WD qualification (RIIVEH305A)
- First Aid qualification (Senior First Aid or equivalent)
- 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a mining environment
- Strong understanding of the Aboriginal Heritage Act
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
